I am a Chinese, Indonesian, Filipino descendant who was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. My parents are business people who probably have never known an artist before I became one. They moved our family to Vancouver, Canada when I was young, to provide us with better life opportunities. That said, I don’t think they thought the opportunity provided would be one for a performing artist..
I have lived my entire adult life in the Greater Vancouver Area. Currently I live in Port Moody with my two teenage sons who think that dressing up as a witch when it's not Halloween or speaking in tongues to myself is normal. They do, however, enjoy watching mom on stage and screen ... sometimes.
Although most of my time is spent deep in a script or at the rehearsal hall, stage, set, or class, I enjoy taking in the trails available around my home. You may also find me at the gym, lifting weights or doing some yoga or kickboxing, at a restaurant, devouring something delicious, or at home, cooking, baking, gardening or reading.
In middle school, a friend asked me to audition for the school musical. I didn't know what a musical was, let alone what to do at an audition. She gave me the run down and I ended up singing the same song she chose for the audition: Castle on the Cloud from Les Miserables. I got a role in the junior chorus that year (dancing to the opening of Grease - Grease Is the Word) … and I was hooked.
It wasn't until university days when I realized that acting can be a profession and there are jobs out in the real world as a performer. I started auditioning for musicals at local theatres and landed a supporting lead role my first year out as Ursula Merkle in Bye Bye Birdie with Theatre Under the Stars, a long running theatre institution in Vancouver, BC, set at Malkin Bowl, an outdoor theatre nestled in Stanley Park. Since then, I have continued to work in local and regional theatres across Western Canada when the right project comes along.
In 2015, I was introduced to the world of film and tv. I started training for acting on camera at McIlroy & Associates and Jeb Beach & Associates (still frequent classes and workshops at both now) and quickly found that I quite enjoy it. That year I landed a supporting lead role in a TV movie (with the help of my then coach James Kot) and the rest, as they say (who’s they?), is history.
Now, 6 years later, I am so proud to say that I have worked with legends such as Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, Cheyenne Jackson, Christopher Plumber, Robert Zemeckis, Steve Carell, Heather Locklear and many others. I am also thrilled to say that my first series regular role is coming out soon ... Mia in Pillow Talk, coming to Crave!!!
I acknowledge that I am located and work on the unceeded territory of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlam), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō (Sto:lo), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) people. I acknowledge the history and ongoing legacy of colonialism, and recognize Indigenous rights as key guiding principles to decolonization and reconciliation.
